What is Soulstice? It’s a first class all day festival replete with crafters, vendors, farm show, food, beer garden and tons of music celebrating our commonality and love for the underrepresented Eastern Mohawk Valley. Agriculturally speaking, solstice is the longest day of sunlight and reflects the promise of the new growing season, to us Soulstice is symbolic of a region full of its own promise.
When and where is Soulstice? June 20, 2020, from 12pm – 10pm, in beautiful Canajoharie, NY a historic and wonderfully restored Erie Canal community in the heart of farming country. We have so much to share from late 1800’s classic architecture and the beautiful Canajoharie Creek & Falls to the beautiful Arkell Library & Museum which showcases our Erie Canal importance and houses a world renowned art collection. Want to see where George Washington slept, the site where Susan B Anthony taught before going on to greater things or a small non-descript house that was very important to the underground railroad? Food, music, shopping and history, come see for yourself; it’s all right here in Canajoharie, NY.
Who are We? We are the new Mohawk Valley Community Chest, a reinvention of the former Canajoharie-Palatine-Root Community Chest a wonderful organization that raised and distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars of community sourced funds to local non-profit enrichment programs. Back then, donors understood their contribution stayed and helped local folks and we share the same philosophy. We want to promote what makes us a proud, progressive and vibrant community, but rather than funding other programs we plan to encourage tourism and community pride ourselves by hosting this Soulstice Festival.
How can you Sponsor? We will gladly accept monetary donations but we are also looking for partners who want to display, promote or sell any locally made good, product or industry. Attached is donation schedule outlying varying sponsorship levels and contact information for vendor and food applications. Check it out, there are so many ways you can participate. Major event, stage or beer garden sponsors are still needed and are fantastic ways to promote your business. Initially, your tax deductible 501(c)(3) contribution will be used to produce this promising event, but ultimately we endeavor to establish a relief fund for members of the agricultural community hit by tragedy or misfortune. We understand the importance of farming to our area and the need to support and preserve this local tradition.
How can you Help? Obviously, we will have a huge need for volunteers and encourage local benevolent clubs, school organizations and civic groups to consider sending us “teams” of help for all or part of the event. Perhaps some of our more blessed businesses could pay their valued workers to volunteer for the day? Please contact the volunteer coordinator for information on scheduling and ways you can help.
Mark your calendars 6/20/20, tell your friends, get involved, lets show the state our soul!
